Close but no Cigar

The prem's went down in a close battle with Tech in the weekend. We made 223/9 off fifty overs in an unusual Star innings. Zeb and Biggles got the team off to a good start, with Aidan blasting a quick 30. Braces carried on the trend with a quick 20 and we were well placed at 102/3 after 25 overs. Two quick wickets stright after drinks put the brakes on things and it was a struggle to rebuild losing wickets at regular intervals for the remainder of the innings. Only a superbly timed 79 not out from Damo got us through to the competitive total, hitting 35 of these runs off his last 8 balls, including 4 sixes in the final over.
Tech were in trouble at 2/10 with Garry taking wickets in consecutive balls, but a number of missed run outs cost us as after the third wicket fell Adam Blake (101 n.o) and Nathan Daley (60) put on about 140 for the fourth wicket, effectively sealing the game, though not without the usual drama when with three overs to go being told by Pete Reeve that 10 runs were needed off 18 balls, only for them to start clapping after 7 were scored, and 7 balls left. Apparently they got the scores wrong when they called it out....

Player of Day Points
Damo 3
Aidan 2
