Top Day at the 20/20

The club was in charge of the scoreboard for the 20/20 match in the Tron on the 28th.

It was a busy day, but plenty of fun as well.

Most of the hard work had been done in the week leading up to the game, with the painting of new name boards for each member of the NZ and Windies 20/20 squad. Stirlo and Rohit took care of the preliminaries, painting all the boards black and Daimo, Liz plus Liz' parents spray painted 30-odd (some very odd) board to get us ready to go.

On the day Yap delegated the running of the show to Rowly, Bobby and Daimo and their s board experience showed and we had that bad-boy up and running with hours to spare.

At game time we had plenty of people manning the boards - with Bobby,Stu (he's up top) Hague, Steve Blackbourn,Thariq, Rohit, Stirlo, Chris (Kushro), Rowly and Adam (Mikes BOL) shuffling and shifting the boards. They also occasionally rained MDF death on those sitting down below, but the less said about that the better.

In the nerve centre Daimo and Yap used a combination of old and new school scoring to keep everything square, while Kim (Mikes sister) acted as runner...

With the scorers telling us to only update the board at the end of each over the pace was pretty cruisy and everybody had a chance to watch the match and keep an eye on whatever was standing out in the crowd.

The board looked great (well as good as it can), ND were happy and all in all it was a pretty good day.

Thanks to all the volunteers who worked on the day, and a huge thanks to Daimo, whos can-do attitude (and practical skills) were the key to the whole thing.

Next job is the NZ vs India ODI on the 11th of March.

Following are a few more snaps from the day, including our photo that made it onto Cricinfo! Cheers.
